Running sets us free

Nothing, in my mind, is quite like running. It is one of those activities that you can go away into your happy place, and just get lost in the moment. The other great thing is that you can make yourself stronger while you’re doing it.
Sure there are several activities that you can become absorbed in the what you are doing. But let’s say for example, weight-lifting, you have to break your concentration when you change the weights, aerobics same thing. If you’re able to find a good pace while you’re running, your mind switches to other things to keep itself occupied.
Why do you think that is? Well, when I run without music, my mind will either focus on the pain that the body is experiencing, or it will wonder around from things to work, to a problem that I’m working out, etc. It actually becomes a form of escape from the immediate activity (which is running), but you also feel somewhat productive, because you are making yourself become stronger.
That is my philosophy. I should go run around the block before my day starts. It will set the day in motion, and I will feel like I accomplished something before I even made it into the office. Until next time.
