Parkour thoughts

by admin on Jun.22, 2010, under Uncategorized

I’m new to parkour. I’m not new to running, but I tried parkour training for the first time in a gym setting last friday. I’m very sore. I have to say for a non-competitive sport, I certainly push myself to a different level.

I am training with the folks at Las Vegas Parkour and Nevada Elite All Stars. The coach seems like a great guy. I showed up late in the practice, and before the end of the practice, I’m running on the trampoline trying new things that I never have.

Why do I want to learn parkour? Well besides the cool jumping off buildings part, and being able to get away from bad guys, its more to be able to increase my agility and get a fun work out in. Its also about the social aspect of the group.

For me finding a group to workout with, makes the workout more fun and entertaining. I will eventually be able to take videos and photos of the group running.

A few things to keep in mind for the next time I go to training. STRETCH! I made the mistake of not getting loose before doing anything that strenuous. Not that I suffered an injury or something, but I definitely moved slower for a few days.

My next training is in a few days, and this time I’m bringing a few new comers as well. We will be able to see what they think of the training.
